How to Seem Confident, Even When You Really Aren't

I've lived in Brooklyn for 22 years and counting. Before the advent of smartphones, if you needed directions to a restaurant or an office building, you actually had to rely on the kindness of strangers. I'd try to ask a Postal Worker or a UPS Driver for directions; if there weren't any nearby, I would ask another woman, or a man, if he seemed sane. All the while, I didn't want to look completely oblivious, so I'd act confident. So much so, that people would ask me for directions en route to my destination. I'd shrug and tell them I was new to the area...

Anything is possible when you seem sure of yourself!
