Petitioning in Brooklyn for the September Primary

This afternoon, I was requesting signatures in Park Slope, Brooklyn, so that Democratic candidates for various offices will be included on the ballot for the September Primary. Not everyone I approach is a registered Democrat; if that's the case, they usually tell me so, I say, "No worries! Have a nice day!" When I asked one young woman with tattoos on her arms if she was registered Democrat, she replied, "I can't vote, I'm a felon."

Well, that was a first for me! A real-life Orange is the New Black moment in my own backyard...
