Jury Duty

Last month I got a questionnaire in the mail to determine my eligibility for Jury Duty in Brooklyn. Much to my dismay, the questions had changed; a few years ago, I was able to tell them I'm a small business owner and my business would fail if I had to sit on a jury. So they left me alone for a few years, up until now...

I had to wake up at an ungodly hour to head down to court. I was told by an ancient clerk who had probably been there for at least 40 years, "Everyone must serve." when I tried to enter my full time freelancer plea. So I managed to delay dreaded jury duty until August, when some of my clients are apt to be on vacation.
