Urban Problems...

I've lived in Brooklyn for 18 years. I don't have a car, so think of all the money I save! I rely on the MTA Subway System to get around. The MetroCard just turned 20 years old! I haven't had trouble with MetroCards until last year when the magnetic strip became damaged; I had $1.00 left on the card, so I didn't file a claim.

This afternoon, I went to add more money to my MetroCard, the machine told me the card wasn't valid for refill, even though it's not due to expire until next year...I went to the clerk in the booth, who told me I had $7.20 left on the card and that it was last swiped on 1-20-14; not true--I'd used it this morning...She gave me a free ride and I bought a new MetroCard. They wanted way too much info. to make filing a claim worthwhile. I freelance and write off travel, so it's no big loss--it's just mildly annoying...
