The Recession is the Great Equalizer

On my way to meet friends in Manhattan, I often go to the nearest Barnes & Noble to kill some time. Ever since the Recession hit, I've notched a troubling trend. The bookstore is jam-packed full of stunned, displaced workers. Former CEOs flip restlessly though magazines while former Executive Assistants study book on how to advance their careers. It doesn't matter how much money or how fancy the title was at your last job--everybody is in the same boat, so to speak.

I'm just now starting to feel the pinch. Ever since my rent and eclectic bills shot up, I'm eating out less and not splurging on former luxuries, like a six-pack of beer. I used to see one movie a week; now, I go twice a month, if I'm lucky...
