Got Street Meat??

  • Jun. 19th, 2008 at 7:57 PM

Around lunchtime today, one of the other Editors I work with asked me if I knew where she could get some street meat near the office...As I pondered her query, I thought to myself, What the heck is street meat?!?!?  After mulling over an appropriate response, I told her I saw a vendor near the Canal Street Subway.  When she returned, street meat in hand, I asked her where she found it.  She had to walk up to the next subway stop, Spring Street in SoHo.

Has anyone else heard this expression?  This was a first for me.  I have a very dirty mind, so I thought she meant the kind of meat that walks around on two legs--men!  Yes, I am warped and twisted!!

For those of you not from NYC...There are vendors all over the city who sell meat, chicken, soda, coffee and breakfast food; sometimes there are several carts to choose from on the same block.

Really Big Show

  • Apr. 7th, 2008 at 8:39 PM

So I'm off to a trade show for work April 9th - April 13th. On Wednesday night after I get settled in the hotel, I plan to be a tourist in my own town and eat at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company; afterwards, I plan to go to check out Ripley’s Believe It or Not! I have to get up very early on Thursday to have breakfast and catch a cab over to the Javits Center with my boss. The other days there will be a shuttle bus, but it will probably take me longer than my usual 30 minute subway ride from Brooklyn to the office in SoHo...The company is putting me up in the swank Crowne Plaza and I do get an expense account for meals, so it's almost like a working vacation.

I will be online for a bit tomorrow night. I haven't been away from my computer this long since the last trade show I attended in Las Vegas. Six days away from the keyboard is almost unfathomable, between my Web Work and my Writing, but it's something I must do...I'll see you on the other side...

Had a Happy Birthday...

It's official...I turned 35 on August 20th and I'm cool with it.  So is my twin brother, Andrew; he's a minute older than me and has always looked out for me, like a good brother should!  Here's a picture of us making a wish before we blow out the candles on our Birthday Cake! Also one of me wearing the traditional Birthday Hat!   I went to visit the family this past weekend.  We went out to dinner with our parents and Andy's wife, my sister-in-law, Denise.

On my Birthday, my Boss and her Boss surprised me by taking me out for a delicious lunch at Lupe's, great restaurant in SoHo; if you're ever in the neighborhood, be sure to check it out!  Monday night I finally got to see Stardust and liked it for the most part.

Today I went out for pizza a few doors down, on a count of all the rain.  It's $5.00 for two slices and a soda, so I gave the guy $10 and he gave me $14 bucks back!  That's the first time I've made money buying lunch!
