Back from NY Comic Con

Well, when I arrived yesterday, I thought I would be sharing a table with a few other Authors, hocking my wares, but the folks at Fearsmag.com forgot I was coming, so there was no room at the table, which disappointed me, but I did check out two neat panels: 85 Years of Weird Tales and The History of Animation. I won a copy of Weird Tales; The 21st Century, an anthology featuring a bunch of Authors I know—that was a nice surprise.

The Exhibitors didn’t really interest me, cuz comics aren’t my thing…Today the Javits Center was mobbed. I spent two hours at the table selling Apple of My Eye and various assorted magazines that showcase my work. I sold a lot of what I brought, so I left happy! I did manage to meet up with [info]joshuagee  and a few creative types he knew for a late lunch at Burgers & Cupcakes on 35th Street and 9th Avenue. I had a juicy, rare burger and a red velvet cupcake. Both were mighty tasty, but they didn’t put my cupcake on the bill, probably because the server almost didn’t bring it...

OMG! I've on LJ for a Year!!

Wow, I've had my very own LiveJournal for a year now...Hard to believe---I've met some really cool New York City based writers via LJ, as well as a few on other countries.  Other LJ Users have tipped me off to new markets and several that have closed shop.  I've promoted my collection, Apple of My Eye extensively and am the E-News Managing Editor for VisionMonday.com for nine months now after a full-time freelancing stint.

I decided freelancing wasn't for me--very few of my Web Clients paid on time, or it was like hostage negotiation to justify my fees.  Consequently, I had to rely on my credit cards far too often--I'm really paying the price now...Take it from me:  Credit cards are nothing but a huge heap of trouble!  I have three…

Apple of My Eye Lipstik Indie Review

I stumbled upon another Apple of My Eye review last night.  The reviewer compared my writing with Stephen King's.  That's the ultimate complement, since I grew up reading Stephen King's novels.  He's one of the Authors who inspired me to write Horror; others include,  H. P. Lovecraft, Jack Ketchum, Franz Kafka, and Edgar Allan Poe.

The reviewer also said she's never been so disturbed by horror stories, ever...My work here is done!

Here's the latest Apple of My Eye Review from Joe Howe. Overall, he enjoyed the book but felt some of the stories ended too abruptly; several other reviews have said the same thing.  Some of the stories in Apple of My Eye were written 11 years ago, when I just started to develop my voice, but the story I'm working on know is over 4,00 words long, so I'm growing more and more each day!

Paperspine - Netflix for Book Lovers

One of my friends told me about a new Web site called Paperspine.com.  The idea is simple:  Choose the books you want to read and Paperspine mails them to you based on availability. You decide which  books you want to receive first by prioritizing them in your book Queue.  It's very similar to Netflix, but I think the idea has potential, especially for city dwellers like me who don't have a library right around the corner.

I hope Paperspine.com does well, especially since they have Apple of My Eye for your reading pleasure!

Jonathan Maberry on Apple of My Eye

Apple of My Eye is a twisted collection of short stories by Amy Grech, including the sexy and deadly title story that makes you want to stay home with the door locked and the lights on. Grech's stories are sinister, sneaky, convoluted and dangerous—and absolutely not to be missed!”

Yesterday sarahlangan and I hopped in the car and had an excellent road trip to the second annual Halloween Horror Book Signing at Barnes & Noble in Wilkes-Barre.  The trees were gorgeous!  Brilliant flashes of gold, deep orange and red dotted the trees.  The signing was great fun!  I sold several copes of Apple of My Eye!  I enjoyed catching up with Authors I knew and meeting some new faces, like Jonathan Maberry!  We'd wished the turnout was better, but the warm weather wasn't in our favor...

The store was very generous, providing ample copies of Apple of My Eye, which I signed!  They even gave us comp cards, so I got  a large coffee and then a very tasty gourmet pretzel and a bottle of juice for the road!  A big thanks to [info]ron_breznay for putting this signing together!

Check out this awesome Apple of My Eye Review!

Latest Apple of My Eye Review

Here's  the latest Apple of My Eye Review.  It's brief and direct.  Dare I say it goes for the jugular?  Most of the stories in Apple of My Eye  are extreme.  The Reviewer, Michelle Lee, liked the tamer tales in the collection.

Strange things are afoot...

My Live Journal has a dark new look! I wanted a tasteful layout that lets the world know I'm a Horror Author and proud of it!

I'll have an October Book Signing and convention date to announce shortly...I'm still hashing out the gory details...In the meantime, watch the skies.

Hungry for more???

Here's another rave review for Apple of My Eye, which currently has a sales rank of 666,603 over at Barnesandnoble.com.  Note the 666!  I'm thrilled the book has found its  audience!  Lucky for me there are a lot of sick people out there!  Hehehe!  At a signing a few months ago, a father asked me if I could make Apple of My Eye to his son, Andrew.  I didn't think to ask how old Andrew was, so if he wasn't a man before he read my book, he is now!!

I'd like to thank Michael Amorel over at Two Backed Books for believing in my deliciously dark brand of Horror!  A big THANK YOU goes out to Jay Bonansinga, for his sharp, witty back cover blurb.  Let me know next time you're in NYC--I owe you a drink!  Thanks, to all of the Readers and Reviewers who have helped make Apple of My Eye a huge success!
